Teaching Agenda
My teaching agenda is responsive to the evolving needs of the Health Information Management (HIM) department and the College of Health Professions. I enjoy teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses both online and on campus. While all topics within the HIM field are within scope, I am especially interested in applying my experience and academic preparation in computer science, biomedical informatics, and adult education to teach in the areas of health informatics, privacy & security, and interprofessional education.
Informed by the principles of adult learning, my teaching approach is collaborative and invites active engagement by all participants. A variety of teaching and assessment methods are utilized, including heavy emphasis on evidence from scholarly literature. I design courses to equip students with marketable skills for professional practice as well as a solid foundation for continued academic studies.
